On a voltmetermeasures the voltage difference between two different points (say, on different sides of a resistor), but it should not change the amount of current going through the element between those two points. So, it should have very high resistance so that it doesn't "draw" current through it.

HEY MATE HERE IS YOUR ANSWER...

=====================

 A voltmeter is like a meter designed to measure pressure difference. It is necessary for the voltmeter to have a very high resistance so that it does not have an appreciable affect on the current or voltage associated with the measured circuit.

Gurveer08: tell your doubt...
shreyarr: Can short circuit be caused when no bulb is there in the circuit?
shreyarr: Only cell, and key is present
Gurveer08: A short circuit is simply a low resistance connection between the two conductors supplying electrical power to any circuit. ... If a charged, high-voltage capacitor is short circuited by a thin wire, the resulting huge current and power dissipation will cause the wire to actually explode.
Gurveer08: IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU PASSING CURRENT THROUGH IT
Gurveer08: NO
shreyarr: Ohk means if the conductor is of low resistance then short circuit can occur
shreyarr: Ohk thanks I got it
Gurveer08: hlo
Gurveer08: gm mate
