Photoelectric effect contains electrons being knocked out by hitting the light from material, typically metal. The emitted electron is called photoelectron.

=The phenomenon of emission of electrons from a metal surface when electromagnetic radiation of sufficiently high frequency are incident on it, is called PHOTO ELECTRIC EFFECT
=Photo electric effect discovered by Henrich hertz
=Lenard and Hallwachs investigated photoelectric emission
=Lenard and hallwachs also observed that there is no photoelectric effect if the frequency is below the threshold frequency
=Zn, Cd, Mg eject electrons when U.V rays falls on it
=Li, Na, K, Rb eject electrons when the visible lights falls on it
