On a graph paper or a Cartesian plane when we are studying in 2-D (2 dimensional) one is x axis and one is y axis the horizontal axis is x and vertical axis is y in order to determine any specific point on the plane we need its x dimension and y dimension which are also called abscissa an ordinate .these two points are called coordinates of the given point

Hi there
It is branch of geometry which set up a definite corresponding between the position of a point in a plane and a pair of algebraic numbers, called co-ordinates.
Two perpendicular no.line are horizontal and the other vertices .These two no. lines are called XX and YY .These two no.line cross each other called origin.
It used in plotting the no.
Thanks (*^_^*)(*^_^*)
