"World Laughter Day" is celebrated on first Sunday of every May.It is celebrated globally around the world.World Laughter Day's first celebration took place on 10th of January 1998 in India.The founder of World Yoga Day" Dr. Madan Kataria took the initiative for the celebration of World Laughter Day.


Why is laughter important?


Some may usually think that why many people pay so much stress on laughter? how laughter is the best medicine? And how is it related to our health?

The answer to all these questions are “Laughter boosts our immune system”.Yes, it actually does boost our immune system.Laughter also helps in increasing immune cells and decreasing stress hormones from our body.So, we should laugh because laughter makes us healthier and which fellow on earth doesn’t want to be healthy and fit ? :P


Patients suffering from blood pressure don’t realize that being in stress is not a solution to their problem and neither it will make them healthy.They should know that being happy and laughing will lower their blood pressure and will also reduce stress hormones from the body.Laughter also releases "endorphins" which are the feel good chemicals and helps in relieving pain.  


Why is it important to have a good sense of humor?


It is proven in a research that people easily get attracted to the people with a good sense of humor.Having a good sense of humor is one of the most important human qualities.Humor helps in releasing stress and living healthy life with an optimistic attitude.For e.g.- Whenever we are sad or depressed we like to be isolated and alone but during that time all our stress turns into fun and happiness when we talk to our friend or someone who has a good sense of humor.That person never fails to make us laugh and glad.He or she always turns our sadness into jokes of fun.


What can we do on this day?


Well this is a nice question that what shall we do on World Laughter day ? According to me we should spread awareness about this day everywhere in our locality.It’s sad to hear that many people don’t even know what is Laughter day and when is it celebrated.We can also make people aware about importance of laughter in our lives and suggest some tips to reduce stress and pain from our lives.We can  make posters and pamphlets using beautiful thoughts and quotations and distribute among people.
