About Alchemist (people):
A long back ago, people used to believe that any metals can be changed to gold by using Philosopher's stone..
At that time the people who got involved in finding that imaginary stone were called Alchemists. Their experiments failed but their findings about the chemicals paved the way for a great leap in modern chemistry!
About The Alchemist (book):(I'm writing this since I've read it a long ago... I'm writing this theme of the novel my own.So plz forgive me if any errors had crept in)
The Alchemist is a book written by the renowned Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho.
It deals with the story of a sheperd(Santiago) who quits his study of priests and takes his job as a sheperd. He is a Spanish(Andalusia).
One day, when he was sleeping under a tree in front of a lonely abandoned church, he dreams a treasure in Egypt besides the pyramid.
So he set out for finding the treasure.
On his way, he meets a king(Melchizedek)who gives him two small stones(Urim and Thummim) so that he can use it in case of any confusion in decision making. He also says him that "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
He reaches Tanger(in Morocco). There he losts all his savings. He starts his working in a glass utensils shop and earns a good deal of money for his further travel to Egypt. In between, he also falls in love with an Arabian girl.
On his way to Egypt, he travels through a desert and was happened to see an Alchemist. The Alchemist helps him to reach Egypt and he also shares valuable knowledge to him.
Santiago searches for the treasure, but he couldn't find it there. A group of people comes and loots him and say that they've also saw a dream that a treasure was hidden under a tree in front of a lonely abandoned church(it was were Santiago started his journey).
Santiago returns to his land and finds the treasure. He next sets out to find his lover(Arabian girl)
If there's any mistake plz inform me, so that I could edit it...
