Gandhi full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2 October 1869 and belong to bania caste
He was born in porbandar, India. He was called Bapu and Father of the nation by all Indians
Gandhi wanted to become a doctor but his family steered him to enter a legal profession. When he turned 18, he went to London, England to study law.
After 3 years, he returned India and came to know that his mother passed away. He got a one year legal contract in South Africa. He noticed discrimination faced by Indian Immigrants at British Hands. Upon his first appearance in Durban Court room, he was asked to remove his turban. He refused and left the court instead.
He formed National Congress in 1894 to fight discrimination.
He organised civil disobedience moment, he called it satyagraha in 1906.
He became a Leading figure in Indian home rule moment
He protested Britian's salt act due to burden on county's poor because of heavy tax.
Gandhi left National Congress in 1934 and leadership is passed to Jawarlal Nehru.
He launched Quit India Moment for immediate British withdrawal from the country. He was also arrested in 1942. He was released when his health was not well, after 19 months. India got independence from great Britain in year 1947.
His actions inspired future human rights movements around globe, including Martin Luther King Jr in U.S and Nelson Mandela in S.A
He was assassinated by firearm in 30th January 1948
