Let the length of two parallel sides be x and y.

Given that the difference between them is 8cm.

= > x - y = 8   ------ (1)

Given that perpendicular distance between them is 24cm and area = 312cm^2.

We know that Area of trapezium = (1/2) * (sum of parallel sides) * h

= > 312 = (1/2) * (x + y) * 24

= > 312 = (x + y) * 12

= > (x + y) = 26     ---------- (2)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On solving (1) & (2), we get

= > x - y = 8

= > x + y = 26

    -----------------

       2x = 34

         x = 17.

Substitute x = 17 in (1), we get

= > x - y = 8

= > 17 - y = 8

= > y = 9cm.

Therefore, the length of each of the parallel sides = 17cm and 9cm.

Hope it helps!
