Explanation:

So the reasons why Newlands' law of Octaves was discarded are

  • The law started to flaw after the element Calcium.
  • Iron resembles Nickel and Cobalt but was kept too away from them.
  • Cobalt and Nickel were placed in the group of clorine, fluorine etc. which dont even have similar properties.
  • When new elements were introduced they weren't able to be placed in that group.
