Passive transport is movement of substances across membrane without the utilisation of energy(ATP). For Example: transportation of gases such as carbon dioxide and oxygen.

Active transport is movement of substances across membrane with the utilisation of energy(ATP). For Example: transportation of ions such as sodium or potassium.
