Battle of Plassey named from a persian'palash' or the tree that hhad flowers used in Holi.The company want puppet ruler and his rivals as nawabs.Robert Clive in madras sent naval fleets to Bengal and led the battle,Sirajuddaulah lost as troops under mir jafar never fought as mir jafar made the nawab.The company wanted role in administration for expansion of trade.Sometimes puppets nawabs were not given all rights to maintain their dignity.Mir Qasim was defeated in battle of buxar (1764)and Mir jafar was reinstalled.After death of mir jafar in 1765 ,Clive ordered we must indeed become nawabs ourselves.
