A metal cube of edge 6 cm is melted and formed into three smaller cubes. If the edges of two smaller cubes are 3cm and 4cm respectively, find the edge of the third smaller cube.

If in any question we have word melted than we have to take volume.Volume of cube :-

 =  {a}^{3}   \\  =  {6}^{3}  \\  \\  = 216 {cm}^{3}

Volume of three cubes are equal to volume of big cube.

 216 =  {4}^{3}  +  {3}^{3}  +  {x}^{3}  \\  \\ 216 - 91 =  {x}^{3}  \\  \\  {x}^{3}  = 125 \\  \\ x = 5 \: cm

Edge of a bigger cube (R)= 6 m

Edge of a first smaller cube(r²)= 3 m

Edge of a second smaller cube(r2)= 4 m

Volume of a cube = side³

Volume of a bigger cube(V) = (sides)³

= (6)³= 216 m³

It is melted into three other cubes ,so the volume of the smaller cubes remains same as the volume of bigger cube .

volume of the first smaller cubes(V1)= (3)³=27 m³

volume of second smaller cube(V2) = 4³ = 64 m³

Total volume(V) = volume of first smaller cube(V1) + volume of second smaller cube(V2)+ + volume of third smaller cube(V3)

V= V1+V2+V3

216  = 27 +64 +V3

216 = 91 + V3

216 -  91 = V3

125 = V3

volume of third cube = 125 m³

Edge³= 125

Edge = ³√125

Edge =³√5×5×5

Edge= 5m

Hence, the edge of the third cube is = 5 m
