they lead to social divisions
for eg northern ireland where class and religion overlap if you are a catholic you are more likely to be poor and suffered a histiry if discrimination.its good for the nation

cross cutting-
its difficult to pit one group against other.
it means that twi groups that share a common interest on one issue are likely to be on different sides on a different issue.
for eg netherlands where catholics and protestants are both likely be rich or poor equally. it is good for the nation. it dieant lead to social division.
