Answer:

The more electronegative atom prefers the orbital having more p character, and lone-pairs or less electronegative elements prefer such orbitals, as have more s character.

Now, according to hybridization, sp3d=sp2+pd, sp3d2=sp+p2d2, sp3d3=sp+p2d3

So, in sp3d more electronegative elements like Fluorine go to axial position, but such elements go to equatorial position in sp3d2 or sp3d3.

Also, as a result of Drago's effect when atoms of group 14,15 and 16 (belonging to third period and above) are attached to atoms having Electronegativity less than 2.5 then it has valence electrons in pure s-orbitals. And apparently no hybridization effect is observed in such cases. That is why in NH3 the bond angles are 107.8∘ but for PH3,AsH3,SbH3,BiH3 the bond angles are very close to 90∘.

according to hybridization, sp3d=sp2+pd, sp3d2=sp+p2d2, sp3d3=sp+p2d3

This is what Google told...

⭕Explain Drago rule⭕

Answer :

it is used for calculating the number of hybrid orbitals .

Note :

group number of central element + no.of atoms sorrounding the central element(1)-charge on the central element whole divided by 2.

But kept in mind that :

(1)except oxygen
