Baking powder is a mixture of baking soda and a mild edible tartaric acid.
When baking soda mixes with water,then sodium hydrogen carbonate reacts with tartaric acid to evolve carbon dioxide gas.....

when carbon-dioxide gas is pass through sodium chloride solution then sodium bicarbonate is formed.

NaCl + H2o + CO2 + NH3 ------> NaHCO3 + NH4Cl

uses :

1) Reduces the acidity in the stomach.

2) Acts as an antacid which is used to treat stomach upset and indigestion

3) it is used in making baking powder

bleaching powder

when chlorine gas is passed through slaked lime than Bleaching powder is formed

reaction :

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 ======> CaOCl2 + H2O

uses:

1) it is used as bleaching agent in textile industries

2) it is used as oxidizing agent in chemical industries

3) it is also used as dis- infectant for drinking water
