Metal carbonates and Metal Hydrogen carbonates reacts with acids and produces corresponding metal salt, carbon dioxide and water. Both the reaction produces CO2 which on passing through lime water makes lime water milky due to formation of calcium carbonate. On passing excess carbon dioxide following reaction occurs.
