Transfer of pollen grains from anther to stigma of a plant is known as Pollination.
There are two types of pollination.
1) Self Pollination :
- When pollen grain transfer from anther to stigma of a same plant.
- External agents are not required.
- Occurs in bisexual flower.
- Example : Wheat, rice etc.
2) Cross Pollination :
- When pollen grain transfer from anther to stigma of different plant.
- External agents like wind, water, insects etc are required.
- Occurs in both bisexual and unisexual flowers.
- Example : Cucurbits, apple etc.
