water potentential is always positive......
but in water column of xylem it is negative....
why???

need proper explanation...

The internal water potential of a plant cell is more negative than pure water because of the cytoplasms high solute content. Because of this difference in water potential,w after will move fromthe soil into a plant's root cell via the process of osmosis.
