The Earth's shape is oblate spheroid or a geoid.

The earth has got an equatorial diameter of 12,757 km and polar diameter of 12,714 km.
In length the equatorial diameter is larger than the polar diameter by 43 km. Hence there is a slight bulging at the equator and flattening at the two poles. This is caused by the rotation by Earth.
