BMR is Basal Metabolic Rate.

In lay man’s world what should be your muscle mass(muscle strength) and bone density (how much strong is your bone)

Now -a - days, people are only concerned on BMI, but BMR is also important to understnad, if you are loosing weight, you must loose fat not muscles or bone density.. similar with weight gain..

for a lady the minimun BMR must be 1800 and for a man 2000.. It comes when you are doing exercise regularly and toning your body

an organism needs a large amount of energy to carry out its life activities even while at rest.basal metabolic rate is the minimum essential energy used for sustaining life. 60-75% of the energy produced in an organism is utilised for basal metabolic rate. maximum amount of energy in our body is produced in liver cells...glucose and fat are mainly used for energy production.thyroxine plays a major role in controlling BMR....

hope it help
