hii friend!!
GUD MORNING✋✋
______
now come to the answer:-
Ocean liners are made of steel and they floatbecause their density is less than that of the water they float in. The ability of a boat to floatdepends on its average density. Its average density is the same as the density of iron; so it sinks.
hope it helps:-)
#thankyou..☺☺

when we throw a iron nail in water it sinks and a ship doesn't because the a ship is hollow and contains air . Therefore its volume is large and density is lesser than that of water. As a result it displaces a large amount of water and hence the upthrust increases .This allows the ship to float in water. On the other side the density of the iron nail is more than that of water as it has no hollow and it contains no air so the iron nail sinks in water
