. Stress and Strain: when an external force applied to the object(made of an elastic material), they produce a change in shape and size of the object. Stress is defined as, the deformation force per unit area of the body or material

mannatmarya: but who are you????

Hey Ankit!!!❤

Here is your answer...

●Stress●

♡Stress is defined as the force per unit area of a material♡

i.e. Stress = force / cross sectional area:

where,

σ = stress,

F = force applied, and

A= cross sectional area of the object.

☆Units of stress : Nm-2 or Pa.

Example::

An example of stress is hypertension, which can result from a reaction to a situation in which a person feels threatened or pressured.

●Strain●

♡Strain is defined as extension per unit length♡

Strain = extension / original length

where,

ε = strain,

lo = the original length

e = extension = (l-lo), and

l = stretched length

☆Strain has no units because it is a ratio of lengths.

Example::

An example of strain is reading a book in the dark, causing pressure on the eyes.

hope it helps yu
