  • Acids react with Metal Carbonate and Metal Hydrogen carbonate to form salts, carbon dioxide gas and water.
  • E.g : Metal carbonate+acid=salt+co2+water
  • E.g : Metal Hydrogen carbonate+acid=salt+co2+water
  • This co2 when passes through lime water it turns milky. If excess of co2 is passed through lime water, then milkiness disappears.
  • Lime stone , Marbles and chalk are different forms of calcium carbonate CaCO3.
  • Slaked lime is calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2].
  • Quick lime is Calcium oxide (CaO).
  • Lime water is a clear solution of calcium hydroxide.
