why is a space black?​

Space seems to be black in color because in space there is no atmosphere present like present in earth, when the white light from the sun travellers towards the earth, it has to pass through the atmosphere around the earth due to which it splits into seven colors (VIBGYOR) and as our eyes are sensible to blue color we see the sky blue in color from the earth but in the space there is no such atmosphere present which can disperse the white light into seven, hence as dispersion of light does not takes place in space astronauts see space black in color
