Answer:

a)

The resistors are connected in series.

So the effective resistance is

R = R1 + R2 + R3

R = 5 + 8+ 12

R = 25 ohm

V = 6V

i = V/R

i = 6/25

i = 0.24 A.

b)

In this the 5 ohm and 8 ohm resistors are in parallel.

So the effective resistance is

1/R = 1/r1 + 1/r2

1/R = 1/5 +1/8

1/R = 13/40

R = 40/13

The resistors 40/13 and 12 ohm are in series

R = R1 + R2

R = 40/13 + 12

R = 196/13

R = 15

V = 6V

i = V/R

i = 6/15

i = 0.4 A.

Answer:

A Total resistance= 5+8+12

12 ohms

by ohms law

V= IR

6/12= I

1/2= I

0.5A = I

B . 1/R¹ + 1/R ²=1/Rs

1/5+1/8=1/R'

8/40+5/40= 1/R'

13/40= 1/R'

50/13 = R'

by ohms law

V= IR

6/50/13= I

6×13/50= I
