- therefore x = (2-y)/2
- now putting the value of x in eq 2
- (2-y)/3*2 + 17y/6 = 3
- (2-y)/6 + 17y/6 =3
- (2 + 16y)/6 = 3 ...same denominators
- 2 + 16y = 18
- 16y = 16
- y = 1
- putting y = 1 in (1)
- x = 1/2
- therefore x =1/2 y = 1
