In order to balance H2 + Cl2 → HCl you'll need to be sure to count all of H and Cl atoms on each side of the chemical equation. Once you know how many of each type of atom you have you can only change the coefficients (the numbers in front of atoms or compounds) in order to balance the equation.

Improper answer i just want the substance oxidized and reduced

hey mate :-)
1. It must be H2 + Cl2 = 2HCl…
1 atom of Hydrogen reacts with 1 atom of Chlorine and form 2 molecules of Hydrochloric acid due to the presence of 2 atoms of both the substances (i.e. H2 and Cl2)
And this type of reaction is known as redox reaction..
Reason: Hydrogen shows electron loss thereby getting oxidised and chlorine accepts the electrons lost by hydrogen thereby getting reduced!
H2 → 2 H(+) + 2 e(-)
Cl2 + 2 e(-) → 2 Cl(-)
2. CuO is reduced to Cu, so CuO is the oxidizing agent. H2 is oxidized to H2O, so it is the reducing agent.
3. : 2H₂S + SO₂ → 3S + 2H₂O In the above reaction Sulphur (S) is oxidized and Oxygen (O) is reduced.
4. This is an oxidation-reduction(redox) reaction:
Zn0 - 2 e- → ZnII(oxidation)
2 AgI + 2 e- → 2 Ag0(reduction)
Silver is reduced.
Zn gets oxidised.
Oxidisation does not mean reacting with oxygen or oxygen bearing compounds to firm an oxide.
It means gaining positive potential or losing negative ions. Since silver loses its nitrate to firm element Silver it is reduced.
Zinc gets oxidised to nitrate here.
5. 2Al + 6HCl = 2AlCl3 + 3H2
OR
2Al + 6H(+) = 2Al(3+) + 3H2 (Ionic equation)
In this reaction, 6 MOLES of HCl are consumed to produce every 3 MOLES of H2.
At STP, 3 moles of H2 gas occupy a volume of 3 x 22.4 litres (that is 67.2 litres).
Thus, 6 moles of HCl gives 67.2 litres of H2 at STP, not just 3 litres.
hope it may help you dear.....
