A solar eclipse happens when the New Moon moves between Earth and the Sun while a lunar eclipse occurs when Earth casts a shadow on the Full Moon. If a planet comes between Earth and the Sun, and is visible as a black dot against the Sun, it is called a planet transit.

A lunar eclipse is when the earth is between the sun and the moon casting a shadow on the moon.

A Solar eclipse is when the moon is between the sun and the earth and the moon casts a shadow on the earth.

The sun makes light, the moon reflects it.

The moon’s shadow on the earth is small compared to the earth, the earth’s shadow on the moon is as big as the moon.

Since the shadow of the moon is small on the earth we only see the sun blocked out in a small area which is where the shadow is.

Since the whole moon is dark in a lunar eclipse anywhere the moon is visible you can see a lunar eclipse.

You should not look at a solar eclipse with the naked eye as the UV can damage the eye (without special glasses). You can look all night at a lunar eclipse.

Coincidentally the moon at it’s distance from the earth just covers up the sun allowing us to see the hot gas “flames”, the corona, emanating from the sun when the super bright disc of the sun is behind the moon.

I hope it's help u follow me ☺☺♥♥
