High BP can be caused by excessive weight and lack of exercise because when we gain weight we consume fatty foods that get stored in the body as reserved energy. This narrows the lumen of the arteries and increases BP. Exercise, on the other hand, consumes extra calories present in the body and prevents the accumulation of fats which helps in keeping BP normal.

Answer:

Being overweight or obese increases your risk of developing high blood pressure. In fact, your blood pressure rises as your body weight increases. Losing even 10 pounds can lower your blood pressure—and losing weight has the biggest effect on those who are overweight and already have hypertension.
