water droplet erosion of the leading edge
- In limited (LP) turbine sections, the last stage row of turbine blades must function in high-moisture zones.
- The leading edge is eroded by water droplets as a result of this. A flame hardening technique is used to strengthen the blades' resistance to this kind of erosion.
- Also, as pressure rises, the moisture content of the steam at the conclusion of the expansion phase rises, resulting in increased losses during steam expansion and turbine blade attrition.
