higher oxides of halogens tend to be more stable than the lower ones.why????

halogen having higher atomic number,greater tendency to lose their outer electron immediately due to longer distance from nucleus. So that higher halogen are react with oxygen and form oxide and become stable. On the other hand lower halogen are less table
