the importance of service sector in providing support to services to the growth of agriculture and industry in Indian economy is explained by analysing the following economic indicators :

employment: the share of service sector in employment has increased from 17.3% in 1950 51 to 26.5% in 2010 . the total persons employed in public and private sector in territory activity is increased from 179 lacs in 1991 to 183 lacs in 2008.

contribution to GDP: the share of service sector in GDP marginally increased from 29 in 1950 51 to 59% in 2011-12. between 1950 51 to 1990 91 service sector grew at an average of 4.9 % and between 2004 5 to 2012-13 at 9.6 %.

investment: fibre plans have recorded highest priority to territory sector in plan all allocations. power transport communication trade social and other services have received highest allocation in the range of 55 to 65%. the eleventh plan has increased public and private sector elections to territory sector by 9% from the previous plan.

Exports: India has become one of the major exporters of territory sector services. technical and Consultancy Services engineering designs project evaluations scientific research of India were exported. revenue earning of territory sector increased from US dollar 46 billion in 2004-05 to US dollars 90 billions in 2007-08
