They had not their own land, nor were they autonomous. They were employed in the land their Lord gave them. They served without pay, called' forced labor,' in the field of their Lord one day of the week. They lived in small sheds in very poor conditions for their domestic animals, such as cows and pigs. You had a wretched life to lead.

The feudal society had' Knighthood ' another characteristic feature. A Knight obeyed fighting the enemy and defending the vulnerable. The Lord's children and family were usually educated and trained to be a cavalry. When one wished to become a Knight, he had to serve as' a clerk' or a servant near a particular Knight. He was called the "Squire" or the bodyguard of the Knight when he could serve land. He learned how to cleanse the arms and prepare the horse during that time. He was appointed as a Knight after gaining mastery in the works. He had to linger in silence for a night in the Church.
