political cause
during 18 the century france was a center of autocratic monarchy. monarchs had unlimited powers and considered themselves equal to god . they engaged themselves  in luxurious and extravagance at the royal court of versailies . they paid no attention towards their subjects .  Louis 16 ascended the throne of france in 1774 . he was married to marie antonittie who always interfered in state affairs . she was proud of herself for she was the daughter of austrian empress. she always enjoyed extravagant and luxurious life . she sowed seeds for french revolution .  thus the autocratic monarch , defective administration and extravagant expenditure formed the political cause of french revolution.
economic cause
economic condition of france was poor during 1774 . long years of war had drained the financial resources of France . added to this was the cost of maintaining an extravagant court at the immense palace of versaillies and the luxurious life of king and queen . moreover france helped 13 american colonies to gain independence from their common enemy britain . this landed france in a huge debt . To meet expenses the king imposed high taxes on the people of third estate . this angered the people . thus economical disability was a reason
