we know that tsa of cylinder = 2πr ( r+h)
 = 2 \times 22 \div 7 \times 1.4(1.4 + 2) - 2\pi \: r \\ = 2 \times 22 \div 7 \times 1.4 \times 3.4 - 2 \times 22 \div 7 \times 1.4 \\ = 2 \times 22 \times .2 \times 3.4 - 2 \times 22 \times 1.4 \\ = 29.92 - 8.8 \\ = 21.12
hope this helps you :)

Anonymous: the formula 2*pi*r(r + h) - (pi r square) but you took 2*pi*r(r + h) - (2*pi*r). . .that is the mistake.

The Total surface area of cylindrical tank with out cover is given by : 2πrh + πr²

where 'r' is the radius of the cylindrical tank and 'h' is the height of the cylindrical tank.

Given radius of tank as : r = 1.4m and height of the tank as : h = 2m

substituting the above values in the area formula we get :

Total surface area of the tin = (2 × π × 1.4 × 2) + (π × 1.4 × 1.4)

Total surface area of the tin = 5.6π + 1.96π = 7.56π = 23.75 m²

So the Total surface area of the tin is approx = 24 m²
