Oocytogenesis is the process of transformation of oogonia into primary oocytes.

Oogenesis is the production of ovum or egg cell, the female gamete or sex cell. It is one type of gametogenesis or sex cell or gamete production. Oogenesis happens in all sexually reproductive species. To be matured, the ovum has to pass through five stages in mammals;the oogonium, the primary oocyte, the secondary oocyte,the ootide and the ovum.
