Both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion...

Hope it is helpful

Question - Assertion : Displacement of an object may be zero even if the distance covered by it is not zero.

Rseason : Displacement is the shortest distance between the initial position of an object.

A - Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

B - Both A and R are true but R is NOT the correct explanation of A.

C - A is true but R is false.

D - A is false but R is true.

Answer - A - Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

Displacement and distance are terms used in physics with different meaning for both the terms.

Displacement refers to the shortest distance between the two point while distance is the total pathway covered between the given points.

Say for example, if a person covers a square path and reaches the end point point which is starting point too, then distance covered will be the perimeter of square.

But the displacement will be zero, as he ended up at the same point from where he started. Hence, non zero distance can also have zero displacement.
