All hopes of the revival of the mughal empire ended when the british decided to challenge the authority of the mughals.They took full advantage of the weaknesses and unstability of the empire .They began to persue their plan of establishing an all india british empire.

The Mughal empire had lasted for over 300 years.The decline of this mighty empire in the first half of the 18th ce led to an intense competition and rivalry among various other ambitious powers to fill the political vacuum.

At last this struggle ended with the victory of the British in the struggle who would rule India for nearly 2oo years.Thus, this marked the end of the great and glorious Mughal empire and the begining of a new age - The Mordern Period in India.
