3. Consider the following rational numbers:
2 7
875 875 875
(i)
-0.875
8 2 2 x 5 (2x5) 10 1000
3 3
3 x 5
75 75
= 0.075
40 23 x 5
2 x 5 (
25) 1000
4
4 x 2² 4 x 4 16
25 52 x 2 (5 x 2) 100
We observe that the denominators of all the above rational numbers are of the form
2" x 5" ie, the prime factorisations of denominators has only powers of 2 or powers of
5 or both
but we have to solve by a"×a"
