Answer:

The mirrors produced such distorted images because the image from one mirror got reflected many times in different types of mirrors (eg convex and concave) which resulted in distortion.

The distortion is due to difference in curvature of the different mirrors.

As per the question, we have a person Hitesh, who went to a laughing room. The question says that the stall had a number of mirrors on all four sides . As people entered and saw their own images, they had fits of laughter because their images looked amusingly distorted.

We have to put forth a reasoning for the distortion in images.

Generally when we look into normal plane mirrors, we do not see any distortion. This is because of the plane surface. But distortion happens when the surface is curved. You might also notice such distortion when you look at shining spoons.

Perhaps the mirrors were concave or convex mirrors with different focal lengths. This made the reflections appear in different and funny shapes and sizes. Also the reflections from one mirror got reflected from other mirrors also, which added to distortion.

Hence, curvature is the main reason for distortion.
