so that they get enough grip on the ground. For eg: athletes running on ground so they need grip to control their body movements.

because they need friction or they have to balance them selves in the field if they wear the spikes shoes it give friction and by that we can easily stop were. we want otherwise due to lack of friction we cannot stop and some time we may fell down
