what source do historians use in writing about the last 250 years of Indian history how was these preserved .....

The historians use natural resouces to carve on rocks like turmeric (haldi) for yellow colour and other flowers for other colour and they mix the ccolour into natural oils to preserve it.
These are preserved because they are mixed into natural oil obtained by flowers and other sap of trees.
