✔Henry's law states that:-

solubility \: of \: a \: gas \: in \: a \: liquid \: is \: directly \: proportional \: to \: the\: pressure\:of\:the\:gas.

Further :-

Mole \: fraction \: of \: the \: gas \: in \: a \: solution \: is \: proportional \: to \: the \: partial \: pressure \: of \: the \: gas.

⭐ To increase the solubility of CO2 in soft drinks and soda water, the bottle is sealed under high pressure.

⭐ At high altitudes, the partial pressure of oxygen is less than that at the ground level because the atmospheric pressure is less. Low blood oxygen causes anoxia.

⭐ To avoids bends oxygen diluted with less soluble helium gas is used by the sea drivers.

Henry Law Formula

The Henry’s law constant is the expression for equilibrium distribution of a compound between water and gaseous phase denoted by KH. It indicates the volatility of the compound.

The mathematical expression for Henry’s law is given by

K to the base h =P1/C to the base w

Where,

C is the solubility of the gas at a fixed temperature in a solvent (units in M or ml gas/L).

k to the base h is the Henry’s law constant (units in M/atm)

P gas is the partial pressure of the gas (units in Atm)
