In DNA fingerprinting why we treat the DNA fragments with radioactive probes. I mean what is the use of treating it with radioactive probes?

radioactive probes are usually used to break diester phosphate type of bond... as Dna is made up of phospho diester bond.. we prefer radioactive probes to treat the DNA fragments.

To differentiate using colours; radioactive elements can be used to stain the DNA fragments to observe differences
