Answer:

1.

The weight of a body depends on two factors:

1) Mass of the body - The weight of a body is directly proportional to the mass of the body

2) The value of g - The weight of the body is directly proportional to the value of g at a place. The value of g changes from place to place.

2. The weight of an object is less on a mountain than at the sea level. This is because the value of g decreases as the height increases from the surface of the earth. Since the value of g is maximum at the surface of the Earth, the weight of a body is more at sea level than at the top of the mountain.

3. Mass is constant but weight changes because mass is the amount of matter contained in a body whereas weight is the force with which earth attracts a body towards its center. The force depends on the value of g as obtained by the relation, W= mg. This value of g changes from place to place and hence, weight changes. The mass does not change because it is not dependent on the value of g and is constant.

4. The iron ball exerts a force of F on a rubber ball. According to Newtown's third law of motion which states that - "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction", the rubber ball is also supposed to exert a force F on the iron ball only in the opposite direction as F. So, the force exerted will be -F. Here, the "-" indicates the opposite direction.

5. The motion shown by the stone is uniformly accelerated motion as only g acts on the body when it is freely falling. All other forces acting on the body are counterbalanced. Hence, only g acts for which the body starts to accelerate uniformly. This was a part of Gallileo's experiment.

Answer:

Here is your answer

8. The weight of a body is directly proportional to its mass.

It also depends on the acceleration due to gravity which varies from place to place.

9. Mass is the same, weight is different.

Since the Earth's attraction decreases as the square of the distance to its center, the weight of an object is slightly smaller at high altitude at the top of a mountain than at sea level,

The reason is that weight is equal to mass+gravity.

At the altitude increases, the value in ‘g’ goes on decreasing. According to the equation W=mg

(i) as ‘g’ decreases the value of ‘W’ i.e. the weight of the body goes on decreasing. Here is the proof:

F=GMm/r^2 (ii)

or, mg=GMm/r^2

or, g= GM/r^2

g is inversely related to ‘r’ which is the radius of the planet. As the radius increases the value of ‘g’ decreases.

10. Because weight depends on the gravity, if you are in gravity then weight will differ as compared to earth.

Mass is constant because mass is quantity of matter present in an object and it does not changes with gravity

11. The rubber ball will exert equal and opposite force on the iron ball ..

12. Uniformly accelerated motion

Explanation: The motion of the body where the acceleration is constant is known as uniformly accelerated motion. As there is no force acting on stone except gravitational force ...
