The chapter 'Bholi' written by K.A. Abbas revolves around a little girl of very young age who has been deprived of her rights from very beginning. The main character of the story is Sulekha who is commonly known as Bholi due to her simple nature. She was backward child since her birth. She used to stammer a lot. When she was very young, she fell from a cot over head and thus had slow thinking capability. Even she had a chicken pox attack which made her face look ugly by pock marks. All other sisters of Bholi were not bad looking thus they were married very early. Her parents worried for Bholi's marriage and they thought that she would never get married. In Bholi's village, a primary school for girls was opened that time. Central Idea ::

Central Idea of the lesson is that we should never underestimate anyone on the basis of their physical appearance. People who lack in good physical appearance usually are benefitted in other skills. Dowry is a social evil which must be eradicated from our society soon. Dowry not only spoils the image of the one who take money instead of those who don't stand against it.
