DANDI MARCH

On 12th March , Mahatma Gandhi began the historic March from Sabarmati Ashram To Dandi , a village on the Gujrat sea cost.

On 6th April,Gandhi violated the salt laws at Dandi by picking up some salt left by the seawaves, because the salt tax affected all the sections of society , especially the poor.

Gandhi ji breaking Salt Laws , marked the beginning of the Civil Disobedience Movement.

THE PROGRAMME OF THR MOVEMENT :

salt law was initiated by mahathma gandhi on 12th march. the british imposed tax on the basic item for food..ie salt .

since salt was an essential component of food..people couldnt refuse to buy .
this affected poor people as they couldnt afford to buy salt.

so gandhiji with his 78 followers protested from sabarmati ashram to dandi on bare foots where he showed his anger on british by boiling sea water to make salt.
