I am saying my own experience... i join it about 5 months ago. in December 25 I met somebody and it's a boy he was very cute and a good friend of mine I trust him even though I only know him virtually.. eventually we share everything but sometime later I could understand that he was continuously lying to me and of course it was a shock. I am not saying that online friendship is only bad.. there is both good and bad I do have lots of good friends and some cheaters also so it's depending on that person and mostly on you how you treat online friendship...

Haven't u thought that u r going through a social media and someone says u 'hi'......Well that would probably raise many questions....

He May ask about ur intro and etc..etc....

And it certainly depends on you that you will give your real identity or not...

If the social media doesn't apply for verified accounts, you should not expose yourself to that person....

Even if his dp seems real..... It could happen that he has just screen-shotted someone else's dp....and pasted it in his own....

These type of cases are not unique....

There are many uncertified accounts whose account holders can make fake accounts and tempt you to have online chats with them...

Whats on the outside will also be on the inside.... Their's no surety....

And for more surety....

Never Engage in relationships in Online Chatting...

It can be your freinds, teacher, parents, relatives, enemies, anyone spying on you and spectate your doing's online....

So....According to me...Online Chatting to Un-Verified accounts is not good...

But that doesn't mean that you will sit down like angry bob...

Be free....Have just a little bit unknown chat...Make just regular normal freinds, don't give your real identity and expose everything about yourself and never go for relations....
