the rate of rxn is first order with respect to M and second order with respect to N

the rate of the rxn is

R = k [ M] ¹ [N ] ²

now the concentration of M is halfed and N is doubled

R ' = k [ M/2] ¹ [2N ] ²

R '= k [ M/2] ¹ [4N ] ²

R ' = k 4/2[ M] ¹ [N ] ²

R '=k 2 [ M] ¹ [N ] ²

R ' = 2 R
