A body of mass 2kg moving up has potential energy 400J and kinetic energy 580 J at a point 'P' in its path. The maximum height reached by the body is (g = 10 ms^{2})

  • 49 m
  • 98 m
  • 196 m
  • 392 m

Here, m= 2kg and g= 10\frac{m}{s^{2}}

Let the maximum height reached by the body be 'H'.

On reaching it, its P.E.=mgh

This should be equal to the total energy at any instant.

mgh=400J+580J=980J

2\times10\timesh=980

20h=980

h=\frac{980}{20}

49m
