Moist strip of blue Litmus Paper over dry HCL gas will turn red. Because the H+ ions get ionised in the presence of water and shows its characteristics.

the moist litmus paper turns into blue colour.. it is bcs if the h2o molecules of the sample is dissolved in lutmus paper,then only the result comes out...it means that the ionisation takes place only when there is the presence of H2o ions
